Guidelines for Contributors

The journal Migracijske i etničke teme primarily publishes scientific articles in a wide range of fields relating to migration, ethnicity and identity problems in social sciences and humanities (sociology, anthropology, history, demography, human geography, psychology, political science, economics, law, linguistics, etc.), as well as in interdisciplinary frameworks. The journal publishes also other contributions of scientific and professional interest: essays, professional papers, reviews and book reports, notes on scientific meetings, etc.

Papers are published in Croatian, English, French and Russian, and the editorial board may also decide to publish some of them in other languages.

The journal publishes unpublished papers. The authors guarantee that the paper accepted for publishing has not been published elsewhere.

The papers are subject to scientific categorization and the evaluation of two reviewers.

It is preferable that the length of articles be 28,800–57,600 characters, including spaces. Reviews of books and journals, as well as notes, reports on scientific meetings and other subjects of interest to the journal, should be 5,400–9,000 characters.

Along with the paper a note on the author/authors (50–100 words) should be submitted and a summary (around 250 words) in the language of the paper and in English, and, if possible, in French or Russian or in the language especially relevant to the theme of the paper. The summary should contain the general presentation of the subject, the methods implemented, the main results and the conclusion(s). After the summaries, key words (up to seven) should be added in the same languages.

Papers are to be submitted by e-mail. On the first page of the paper the author should write only his or her name, surname, and the name and address of the institution in which he or she is employed. It is also necessary to give an e-mail address, fax or telephone number.

Graphic material (graphs, illustrations, tables, etc.) should be submitted (in black and white technique) in accordance with standard modes of computer design. If such material is taken from other sources, the author is obliged to secure copyright permission.

References in the text should be made in the following manner: (Katunarić, 1986), or (Berger and Luckmann, 1966: 91; cf. Мыльников, 1996: 113–118), etc. Abbreviations such as “ibid.”, “op. cit.” and similar should be avoided, if possible.

References should be listed at the end of the paper in alphabetical order as follows:

BOURDIEU, Pierre, PASSERON, Jean-Claude and CHAMBOREDON, Jean-Claude (1973). Le métier de sociologue. Paris: Mouton – Bordas.

DAMON, William (1982). “Zur Entwicklung der sozialen Kognition des Kindes”, in: Wolfgang Edelstein and Monika Keller (eds). Perspektivität und Interpretation. Frankfurt am Main: Suhrkamp, pp. 110–145.

If more references from one author are referred from the same year, letters are added to the date – e.g. (1991a), (1991b), etc.
